Miriam Alexander specializes in marketing research and strategic consulting
services with particular expertise in interactive media, particularly
online content, commerce and service providers. As a natural outgrowth
of her work, she also helps traditional companies establish or extend
their online presence.
Representative projects include:
• Extensive exploration of branding for a major family entertainment
conglomerate;
• Branding exploration for a major telecommunications company;
• Feasibility assessment for a nascent online brand;
• Product development and marketing consultation–both strategic
and tactical–for two major commerce environments;
• Product development and marketing work for a financial services
web site;
• Usability and strategy for a new data broadcasting service.
Her marketing background spans a number of entertainment
media, from pay cable television, to motion pictures and specialized
home video. She began her career at Spotlight Cable Television and continued
to Columbia Pictures. Alexander began to consult in 1987, first exclusively
for Lorimar Film Entertainment and subsequently, on a non-exclusive
basis for theatrical clients including MGM/UA, Orion Pictures and New
Line Cinema.
The only non-academic researcher invited to speak at the CME Conference on Children and Media, Alexander also speaks about new media, particularly children's media and branding issues. Additional experience includes time in the non-profit sector. First, at the USA for Africa Foundation where she served as Director of Community Affairs, and subsequently, as National Press Secretary for Hands Across America. Alexander is a graduate of Wellesley College, where she studied philosophy.
